Andziaks expresses concern over thermal paper receipt safety

Polish influencer Angelika Trochonowicz, known online as Andziaks, has shared her concerns regarding the safety of handling thermal paper receipts. She revealed that she avoids touching receipts due to fears of harmful substances used in their production.

While the influencer expressed anxiety about potential chemical exposure, experts have provided context regarding the risks. Since January 2020, the European Union has restricted the use of bisphenol A (BPA) in thermal paper at concentrations of at least 0.02 percent, with bisphenol S (BPS) often serving as a substitute.

Chemists and experts, including Dr. Sylwia Bogdan and Dr. Adam Mirek, have addressed these concerns, stating that briefly holding a receipt does not pose a significant threat to the body. They noted that while there is no need to avoid them entirely, one should avoid handling them for extended periods or allowing small children to play with them.
