Aneal Giddings denies election server tampering in GECOM trial
Aneal Giddings, the former Information Technology Manager for the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), testified in court regarding the security of an election server during a 2020 bomb scare at the Ashmin’s Building. Giddings maintained that the server remained secure while locked in his vehicle and that he neither accessed nor permitted anyone else to tamper with it. He stated the server was password-protected, with access limited to himself and two senior technical team members.
Giddings also clarified that the Statements of Poll (SOPs) he was assigned to tabulate did not determine the final declared election results.
Additionally, forensic accountant Terrence Jaskaran testified in defense of his analysis of the District Four results. Jaskaran stated his report was based on the certified SOPs provided to him, despite the identification of five missing or blank boxes, and rejected claims that his social media activity influenced his professional work.
