Aneel approves electricity tariff hike for Neoenergia Elektro
The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) has approved a 12.24% increase in residential electricity tariffs for Neoenergia Elektro, effective from the 27th. This adjustment affects approximately 3 million consumer units across 228 municipalities in São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul.
The residential increase is higher than the distributor's average adjustment of 9.58% and the 4.10% applied to high-voltage consumers. For all low-voltage consumers, including rural properties and small businesses, the average increase will be 12.19%. Aneel attributed the adjustment to costs related to energy acquisition, transmission, distribution, and financial components.
Separately, Aneel announced the maintenance of the yellow tariff flag for September. This system adds an extra charge of R$ 1.885 for every 100 kWh consumed, reflecting less favorable energy generation conditions that require the use of more expensive sources, such as thermoelectric plants, due to lower hydroelectric output.
