Aneel authorizes fuel stockpiling in Amazonas for 2026 drought
The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) has approved the exceptional acquisition of up to 42.3 million liters of fuel to create strategic contingency stocks in Amazonas. This measure aims to reinforce the electrical system's security during the 2026 drought period, which is expected to be impacted by the El Niño phenomenon.
The funds will be allocated to Aggreko Energia, Powertech Engenharia, and Oliveira Energia to support energy generation in the region. The Chamber of Electric Energy Commercialization (CCEE) is scheduled to release the financial resources by September 21, 2026, contingent upon the companies providing proof of fuel acquisition via fiscal documentation.
