Minas Gerais records over 91,000 new business openings in 2026
Minas Gerais has seen significant entrepreneurial growth in 2026, with over 91,526 new companies registered between January and September. This represents a 4.11% increase compared to the same period in 2025. The growth is primarily driven by the service sector, which accounted for 69,424 new businesses, or approximately three out of every four new registrations in the state.
Within the state, Montes Claros has emerged as a major hub, recording 1,853 new business openings during the first nine months of the year. This performance places Montes Claros fifth in the state ranking for new businesses, following Belo Horizonte, Uberlândia, Contagem, and Juiz de Fora.
Data from the Board of Trade of the State of Minas Gerais (Jucemg) indicates that while the service sector is expanding, the commerce and industrial sectors saw slight declines in new registrations compared to the previous year.
