Aneel records intent to build Santa Rita hydroelectric plant
The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) has officially recorded the intention of Nascente Renováveis to implement the Santa Rita Small Hydroelectric Plant (PCH) on the Araguaia River. The project is planned for the border region between the states of Mato Grosso and Goiás, specifically near the municipalities of Alto Araguaia and Santa Rita do Araguaia.
The proposed plant is designed to have an installed capacity of 14,000 kilowatts and a compact reservoir covering 0.008 square kilometers. This administrative act serves as an initial regulatory step to reserve the site's hydraulic potential, preventing competitors from obtaining rights to the same location. The company now has up to 14 months to submit a complete basic project and technical documentation to proceed.
In a related regulatory action, Aneel denied a competing registration request from ZPC Investimentos e Participações for the same water resource, noting that environmental licensing is being handled through separate processes.
