ANEM condemns threats against journalists and signal hijacking in Serbia

The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) has issued strong condemnations regarding recent attacks on media freedom and journalists in Serbia.

ANEM reported that journalists Nenad Kulačin and Marko Vidojković, hosts of the program ‘Dobar, loš, zao’, received explicit threats of sexual violence via the social media platform X. The threats specifically targeted Kulačin and his wife, mentioning a date following the parliamentary elections. ANEM has filed a report with the Special Prosecutor's Office for High-Tech Crime, requesting urgent identification of the perpetrator and protection for the journalists.

Additionally, ANEM accused Telekom Srbija-owned operator Supernova of illegally hijacking the signal and identity of TV Forum. During a political gathering in Čačak, the signal of TV Forum was reportedly replaced by the pro-government TV Informer, while retaining the TV Forum logo on screen. ANEM characterized this as a model for eliminating independent media from the airwaves and called on the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) to intervene against the broadcasting of unauthorized media outlets.
