Aneurin Donald selected for England T20I debut against Sri Lanka

Aneurin Donald is set to make his T20I debut for England in an upcoming series against Sri Lanka. White-ball coach Brendon McCullum confirmed the selection, noting that Donald will open the batting alongside Jos Buttler.

Donald, who plays for Derbyshire, earns his call-up following strong domestic performances, including a strike rate of 214 for his county and a notable top-scoring performance in The Hundred final. His selection is a significant milestone for Derbyshire, marking the first time an academy product from the club has been named in an England squad since 2013.

Donald replaces Phil Salt, who is sidelined with a quadriceps injury. He joins other unavailable players including Jacob Bethell and Sam Curran, who are also dealing with fitness issues. Jofra Archer has been rested for the series.
