ANFP faces crisis following San Marcos de Arica disaffiliation and office closure

The Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (ANFP) is facing significant institutional turmoil following the disaffiliation of San Marcos de Arica. The decision, reached by a 6 to 1 vote in the ANFP Disciplinary Tribunal, stems from allegations of administrative irregularities and discrepancies in financial declarations for the 2024-2025 period.

In response to the ruling, the ANFP has suspended the final matchday of the Primera B championship, with most games rescheduled for November 15. This delay has drawn criticism from clubs like Cobreloa and San Luis de Quillota, as well as regional authorities. Diego Paco, the Governor of Arica and Parinacota, has called for the resignation of the ANFP board, citing the organization's own administrative failures.

Simultaneously, the ANFP headquarters in Peñalolén has been closed by municipal authorities due to an outstanding debt of approximately 172 million pesos in municipal patents. The ANFP has labeled the closure arbitrary and is filing legal appeals to restore access to its offices, noting that administrative functions and competitions will continue despite the physical closure.
