Angel Clover unveils Initial D 30th‑anniversary automatic‑wind watches
Japanese fashion trading company Weni Trading Co. announced that its Angel Clover watch brand will release two new automatic‑wind models to mark the 30th anniversary of the manga Initial D. The watches reproduce the protagonist Takumi Fujiwara's Toyota AE86 and his father Bunta Fujiwara's Subaru Impreza WRX (GC8) on the dials, using skeleton designs, carbon or stainless‑steel bezels, and a 45 mm stainless‑steel case. Both are powered by a Chinese‑made PT2859‑1 automatic movement, are water‑resistant to 10 atm and include a commemorative Initial D‑logo coin key‑holder.
Reservations start on 30 July 2026 with sales beginning on 30 September 2026. The AE86 model is priced at ¥53,900 (tax‑included) and the GC8 model at ¥49,500 (tax‑included). The launch follows a series of five watches released since winter 2025 that feature other cars from the series, reflecting the manga’s lasting impact on car culture. Initial D, serialized from 1995 to 2013, has sold more than 56 million copies worldwide, influencing automotive enthusiasts across Asia and Europe.
