Atlanta Dream secure State Farm Arena for WNBA Finals
The Atlanta Dream will host Games 3 and 4 of the WNBA Finals at State Farm Arena following a resolution to significant scheduling conflicts. The Dream were originally facing the possibility of playing their home games at the Gateway Center Arena, which has a capacity of only 3,500 spectators, whereas State Farm Arena can accommodate approximately 17,000 fans.
To facilitate the move to the larger venue, the WNBA and the Atlanta Hawks agreed to several schedule adjustments. Game 3, originally set for October 22, has been moved to Wednesday, October 21, to avoid a conflict with a scheduled concert. Game 4 will remain on Saturday, October 24, but its tipoff time has been moved up to 1 p.m. ET to allow the Atlanta Hawks to host their NBA home opener later that evening at 8:30 p.m.
WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert stated that the arrangement expands seating capacity and ensures an extraordinary atmosphere for the first Finals in the Atlanta market since 2013. The Dream will face the Golden State Valkyries in this best-of-seven series, which begins in San Francisco.
