Angela Bassett endorses David Jonsson as new T'Challa for Black Panther III

Angela Bassett has expressed enthusiasm regarding the casting of David Jonsson as the new T’Challa (T’Challa II) in the upcoming Black Panther III. Bassett, who portrayed Queen Ramonda, stated she was ‘over the moon’ to hear the news and believes fans will share that excitement.

While Bassett’s character died in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, her comments regarding the new lead have fueled speculation about a potential return via the franchise’s ancestral plane, a spiritual realm that allows characters to communicate with the deceased.

Marvel Studios has confirmed that Ryan Coogler will return to direct the third installment, which is slated for release in December 2028. The film will feature David Jonsson in the grown-up version of the character introduced in the previous film’s post-credits scene. Other returning cast members include Letitia Wright as Shuri and Winston Duke as M’Baku.
