Angela Porcello returns to prison after final mafia conviction
Angela Porcello, a former lawyer from Agrigento, has returned to prison following a final ruling by the Court of Cassation. The court upheld her sentence of 9 years, 1 month, and 23 days in relation to the “Xidy” anti-mafia investigation.
Porcello, who was previously under house arrest, was transferred to the Agrigento prison after being convicted of mafia association and facilitating communications for detainees under the 41-bis regime. Prosecutors identified her as a cashier for the Canicattì mafia clan. The investigation alleged that her law office was used as a venue for summits between mafia leaders from various provinces to discuss strategic operations.
