Angela Stribling, BET host and radio personality, dies
Angela Stribling, a prominent radio personality, jazz singer, and former BET host, has died at the age of 58 following a two-year battle with brain cancer. Her husband, Ken Washington, confirmed she passed away peacefully at home.
Stribling had a distinguished career in media, notably serving as a host for BET programs such as ‘Screen Scene’ and various jazz-focused shows including ‘Jazz Central’ and ‘Jazz Discovery’. She was also a long-time fixture at WHUR-FM, where she became the first woman to host ‘The Original Quiet Storm’ and hosted the late-night program ‘Pillow Talk’.
WHUR general manager Sean Plater praised Stribling as a remarkable talent and a genuine person whose presence was deeply valued by the community. A native of Buffalo, New York, Stribling was also a classically trained jazz vocalist who performed at various venues in New York City.
