Angela Vitelli celebrates 85th birthday

Angela Vitelli, the former Mayor of Cori and a prominent political figure in the Latina province, celebrated her 85th birthday on August 10, 2026.

Vitelli holds a significant place in local history as one of the first female mayors in Italy and the first woman to serve as Mayor of Cori, a position she held from 1980 to 1987. Her political career began in 1964 when she was elected to the Cori City Council by the Italian Communist Party. At age 23, she served as a senior councilor and budget assessor.

In 1975, she made history by becoming the first woman from the Province of Latina to be elected to the Lazio Regional Council, securing a seat in the Latina constituency.
