Angelina Jolie stars in ‘Couture’, filmed inside Chanel atelier

The film ‘Couture’, directed by Alice Winocour and starring Angelina Jolie, is set for release on August 26. The production marks a historic milestone as the first film authorized to film inside the Chanel haute couture atelier at 31 rue Cambon in Paris.

While the film features the actual seamstresses of the maison and utilizes the iconic Art Deco mirror staircase, director Alice Winocour chose not to use the Chanel brand name or logos to maintain a sense of fictional consistency.

The plot follows Maxine Walker, an American director played by Jolie, who travels to Paris to direct a short film during Paris Fashion Week. Her professional journey is complicated by a breast cancer diagnosis. The story intertwines her path with those of a South Sudanese model, played by Anyier Anei, and a French makeup artist, played by Ella Rumpf.

Co-star Louis Garrel, who plays a cinematographer, noted that the film explores themes of resilience, desire, and sensuality in the face of illness, highlighting the emotional vulnerability of the characters.
