Angelina Jolie Wins Court Ruling Blocking Brad Pitt’s Request for Château Miraval Emails
On May 4, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled that Brad Pitt cannot compel actress Angelina Jolie to hand over a set of personal emails related to the sale of her share in Château Miraval, the 1,200‑acre French winery they once owned together. The judge found the communications fell under attorney‑client privilege and dismissed Pitt’s request without addressing the merits, meaning he may try again later.
Jolie’s lawyer Paul Murphy hailed the decision, saying, "This is an important victory for Ms. Jolie," and emphasized that Pitt had overstepped legal bounds in seeking the documents. Pitt’s lawsuit, filed in 2022, alleges that Jolie violated a 2008 agreement not to sell the property without mutual consent. The dispute follows the couple’s 2024 divorce settlement and remains unresolved, with the case slated to proceed on substantive claims in future years.
