Angelina Jolie Wins Court Ruling Over Brad Pitt in Château Miraval Dispute

A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge, Cindy Pánuco, ruled that Angelina Jolie is not required to turn over a set of attorney‑client privileged emails to her ex‑husband Brad Pitt. The decision overturns a prior order that had compelled Jolie to produce the communications, which related to the ongoing litigation over their jointly‑owned French vineyard, Château Miraval, valued at more than $160 million.

Pitt’s legal team had sought access to 22 emails—originally 126—covering strategy and negotiations concerning the sale of Jolie’s 50 % stake in the estate. The court found Pitt had not met the burden to demonstrate the messages fell outside the privilege. The judge also rejected Jolie’s request to impose a financial sanction of $33,692 against Pitt, saying the request lacked sufficient justification. The dispute, which began after their 2024 divorce finalisation and involves claims over alleged verbal agreements and the 2021 sale of Jolie’s share, remains unresolved and may continue for years.

The ruling marks an “important victory” for Jolie, according to her attorney Paul Murphy, and a setback for Pitt’s efforts to obtain potentially incriminating information. Both parties continue to litigate the ownership and financial terms of Château Miraval.
