Angelo Vaccarezza criticizes Ponte Morandi compensation rhetoric

Angelo Vaccarezza of Forza Italia has criticized recent political rhetoric regarding compensation for the victims of the Ponte Morandi collapse. Expressing support for Genoa Mayor Marco Bucci, Vaccarezza argued against ‘maxi-reimbursements’ or promises lacking legal basis, labeling such claims as demagoguery that creates false expectations.

Vaccarezza highlighted existing recovery efforts, including a 3.4 billion euro settlement signed in 2021, the construction of the new San Giorgio Bridge, and various infrastructure investments for the Liguria region. He emphasized the need for political responsibility and respect for the families of the forty-three victims of the 2018 tragedy.
