Angers murder investigation: Man arrested after fatal shooting in Ponts-de-Cé

A 63-year-old woman, identified as Sylvie Barrau, was killed on September 28 in Ponts-de-Cé, south of Angers, after being shot in the Rue Secrétain. The victim was the owner of the residence where the incident occurred.

A 58-year-old man, who was acting as the caretaker of the property, contacted the police himself to report that he had killed a woman with a firearm following a dispute. Upon arrival, authorities found the victim critically injured; she passed away later that afternoon.

Police recovered a .22 Long Rifle rifle at the scene. The suspect was found to have a blood alcohol level of 1.20 mg per liter of exhaled air. Following his arrest, a judicial inquiry for murder committed while in a state of manifest intoxication has been opened by the Angers prosecutor's office.
