Angie Craig intensifies campaign ahead of Minnesota Senate primary

U.S. Representative Angie Craig has been traveling across Minnesota in the final days before the Democratic primary for the state’s open U.S. Senate seat on Aug. 11. In interviews she highlighted a tight race with Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, accusing the latter of insufficient accountability for fraud cases investigated during the Walz administration and of relying on super‑PAC money.

Craig said she is meeting voters statewide and pledged to end Citizens United‑style financing, ban super‑PACs and increase transparency on campaign funding. She noted that the average contribution to her campaign is under $100 and called for broader reforms such as ending gerrymandering. Flanagan responded by defending the administration’s fraud investigations and criticizing Craig’s record on issues like ICE and corporate contributions. The primary will determine the Democratic nominee who will face the general election in November.
