Angie Peña's mother demands rescue of daughter missing in Roatán

Michelle Melgares, the mother of Angie Peña, has issued a renewed plea to Honduran authorities to locate and rescue her daughter, who disappeared in Roatán, Bay Islands, in January 2022.

Melgares expressed her continued belief that Peña is being held in captivity. While monitoring the actions of the National Police, the Public Ministry, and the courts, Melgares emphasized that the family's primary focus remains the physical rescue of the young woman. She questioned the effectiveness of current rescue operations in the island region, stating, “Everyone in Roatán knows each other, why don't they rescue her? Hand her over!”

The investigation into Peña's disappearance has shifted from a potential accident to a probe involving a suspected human trafficking network known as “Delta Teams.” Several individuals, including Harold Joseph Green Jr., William James Murdock, Gary Lee Johnston, and Ramón Gustavo Trejo Nájera, face charges related to human trafficking and criminal association, while Anthony Frank Grayson remains a fugitive with an international arrest warrant.
