Angie Rodríguez Moves Toward Colombia’s Ultraright as Government Changes

Colombian political operative Angie Rodríguez, previously appointed director of the Department of Administrative Support (Dapre) by left‑wing President Gustavo Petro, has shifted allegiance to the country’s ultraright factions. Her realignment follows the end of Petro’s administration and coincides with her marriage to Rodrigo Tovar Pupo, the son of notorious paramilitary leader Jorge 40. Rodríguez is now reportedly supported by a network of lawyers linked to former Justice Minister Wilson Ruiz, who served under ex‑president Iván Duque.

Observers note that her close ties to elite media groups and alleged foreign influences are being used to undermine Petro’s legacy and the reforms of the former Pacto Histórico government.
