Angie Rodriguez alleges espionage, threats and attempted poisoning inside Petro's Colombian government

Angie Lizeth Rodriguez, former director of the Adaptation Fund and ex‑director of the Department of Administrative Presidency (Dapre), says she has been incapacitated by severe anxiety, insomnia, chest pain and depression after experiencing internal pressures, threats and a hostile environment within President Gustavo Petro’s administration. She has publicly accused officials of espionage and internal power struggles, and has filed a criminal complaint alleging that former fund adviser Miguel Ospino repeatedly gave her unknown pills and sweets that she believes attempted to poison her.

Rodriguez also requested an extension of her special security protection, claiming ongoing risk to herself and her family; the request was initially denied, with authorities stating the scheme depends on her current office. The dispute has escalated into a broader clash with Carlos Carrillo, director of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management, over the administration of the Adaptation Fund and allegations of irregularities. The controversy has heightened political tension within Petro’s government, prompting calls for investigations while judicial outcomes remain pending.
