Angine de Poitrine wins 2026 Polaris Album and Song Prizes

The Saguenay-based math rock duo Angine de Poitrine has won both the 2026 Polaris Album Prize for their release ‘Vol. II’ and the SOCAN Polaris Song Prize for the track ‘Fabienk’. The awards were announced during a celebration of Canadian music at Toronto’s Massey Hall.

Known for their microtonal melodies and complex rhythms, the duo presents as an “anonymous art project,” with members performing in polka-dotted outfits and large papier-mâché heads. Their recent rise to global popularity, including appearances on international stages, has sparked discussions regarding a potential renaissance in progressive rock music.
