Netflix to produce Angélica Rivera biographical series

Netflix has officially announced the production of an autobiographical series chronicling the life of Mexican actress and former First Lady Angélica Rivera. The project, tentatively titled ‘Tulipán’, is scheduled for release in 2027.

In a notable casting choice, Rivera’s daughter, Sofía Castro, will portray her mother, navigating different stages of her life. The series aims to provide an intimate look at Rivera’s transition from a prominent telenovela star to her tenure at Los Pinos during the presidency of Enrique Peña Nieto (2012–2018).

The production is being led by El Estudio, the audiovisual company behind ‘Luis Miguel, la serie’. While the narrative is expected to explore the personal challenges, sacrifices, and public scrutiny Rivera faced within the political sphere, specific details regarding the portrayal of her former husband, Enrique Peña Nieto, have not been confirmed. Rivera stated the series is an opportunity to show “the woman behind the headlines,” including her fears, mistakes, and capacity to reinvent herself.
