Angélica Salvador first Brazilian woman to win Michelin star in Portugal
Chef Angélica Salvador, a Brazilian native who moved to Portugal in 2005, became the first Brazilian woman to earn a Michelin star outside Brazil when her restaurant In Diferente in Porto was awarded the honor in 2026. She is only the fourth woman in Portugal to receive a Michelin star. Salvador’s career began in the Algarve and progressed through several Portuguese kitchens before achieving the distinction.
Chef Nuno Queiroz Ribeiro launched the nomadic food project "Hit the Road Chef" on the beach of Praia de Odeceixe in the Odemira municipality. The temporary kitchen, supported by the local council, operates until 21 September 2026, offering a menu that blends local land and sea ingredients with a focus on seasonal, sustainable cooking. The project includes street‑food‑style dishes such as octopus and cuttlefish “dogs,” fresh oysters, and live music evenings.
