Angélica Saraiva de Sá arrested in Bolivia

Angélica Saraiva de Sá, known as ‘Angeliquinha’, a prominent leader of the Comando Vermelho criminal faction in northern Mato Grosso, has been arrested in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. The capture was the result of a coordinated operation between the Mato Grosso Civil Police and Bolivian authorities.

Saraiva de Sá had been a fugitive since escaping from the Ana Maria do Couto May Female Penitentiary in Cuiabá on August 17, 2025. To evade identification, she reportedly underwent more than five aesthetic procedures to alter her facial features and attempted to use a false Brazilian identity during her encounter with police.

She faces significant legal consequences, with six active arrest warrants and total sentences exceeding 260 years for crimes including drug trafficking, extortion, and criminal organization. In March 2025, she was sentenced to 99 years and 11 months for the 2022 murders of four workers in Nova Monte Verde. Investigations suggest she maintained significant influence over criminal activities in the Alta Floresta and Nova Bandeirantes regions while in hiding.
