Adeniyi Adeyemi Arrested After Abuja Court Issues Bench Warrant in PFIPC Scandal

The Federal High Court in Abuja issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self‑styled Director‑General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), after he repeatedly failed to appear for arraignment on an eight‑count charge of forgery, fraud and impersonation. Justice Mohammed Umar ordered the warrant on the basis that Adeyemi missed four consecutive court dates. Police intelligence teams from the Federal Force carried out the arrest in Osun State and transferred him into custody.

Adeyemi has claimed he borrowed N400 million (later also cited N100 million) to secure his purported appointment and alleges that he faces threats to his life, saying, “I’m ready to show my face. I’m not hiding. I’m only fearing for my life because I have it on good authority that my life is in danger.” He wrote an open letter to President Bola Tinubu demanding an independent, multi‑stakeholder panel to investigate the PFIPC, which the Presidency says does not exist, and its ₦1.3 billion budget allocation in the 2026 Appropriation Bill. President Tinubu directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate within 30 days. The case has been adjourned to 30 September 2026 for a fresh arraignment.
