Angélique Kidjo to be honored as first African musician on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Benin‑born singer Angélique Kidjo, a five‑time Grammy Award winner, will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on 18 August 2026. The ceremony, marking the 2,854th star, makes her the first African musician and the first Black African performer to be honored on the iconic boulevard.

The event at 7011 Hollywood Boulevard will be hosted by Variety correspondent Angelique Jackson, feature Oscar‑nominated actor Willem Dafoe as guest speaker, and include Grammy‑ and Emmy‑nominated songwriter Harvey Mason Jr. It will be streamed live. Kidjo’s career spans more than three decades, 19 albums and collaborations with artists such as Burna Boy, Sting, Yo‑Yo Ma and many others, and she has earned honors including the Polar Music Prize.
