Angélique Kidjo calls for African unity and collaboration

Renowned Beninese singer Angélique Kidjo has called on Africans to set aside internal conflicts and work together to shape the continent's future. Speaking at a Spotify event in Johannesburg, South Africa, the 66-year-old artist emphasized the need for unity to harness Africa's vast cultural potential.

Kidjo highlighted the importance of the continent's youth, noting their desire for innovation. She urged the younger generation to focus on strategic collaboration and collective storytelling to better present Africa to the world. The singer, who has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2002, remarked that Africa is unique in the extent of its internal struggles, which she believes hinders development.

Kidjo recently made history as the first Black African artist to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her career spans over four decades and includes collaborations with major international and Afrobeat artists.
