Angélique Kidjo to receive Hollywood Walk of Fame star

Beninese musician Angélique Kidjo is set to become the first African artist to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The five-time Grammy winner will be honored with the 2,854th star in the Recording category during a ceremony scheduled for August 18, 2026, at 7011 Hollywood Boulevard.

Kidjo, a prominent figure in global music for over four decades, is recognized for blending West African traditions with genres such as jazz, funk, R&B, and gospel. The ceremony is expected to feature guest speakers including actor Willem Dafoe and Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr.

In addition to her musical achievements, Kidjo is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and founder of the Batonga Foundation, which supports education and economic empowerment for young women in Benin and Senegal. The milestone coincides with the launch of her 18th studio album, ‘HOPE!!’, which features collaborations with artists such as Pharrell Williams and Davido.
