Anglo American and Teck Resources name leadership for upcoming merger
Anglo American and Teck Resources have unveiled the executive team that will run the planned Anglo Teck joint venture, slated to close between September 2026 and March 2027. Duncan Wanblad, current CEO of Anglo American, will remain chief executive officer of the combined entity. Teck Resources CEO Jonathan Price will serve as deputy CEO and chief strategy officer. The senior management lineup also includes John Heasley as chief financial officer and Ruben Fernandes as chief operating officer, among other senior officers covering legal, technical, people and sustainability functions.
The board will be finalized before the merger, with Nolitha Fakude continuing as chair in South Africa, Sheila Murray as chair of the new board, and several directors from both companies joining. Anglo Teck will be headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, with corporate offices in London and Johannesburg supporting its global operations. The transaction targets roughly $800 million of pre‑tax synergies and will give Anglo shareholders about 62.4% of the new company, with Teck shareholders holding the remaining 37.6%.
