Journalists Conceição Queiroz and Luciana Barreto lead media diversity initiatives

Mozambican journalist Conceição Queiroz presented her fifth book, ‘Racismo: meio século de força’ (Racism: Half a Century of Strength), at the Unilab campus. The book addresses structural racism through real-life stories, highlighting the emotional pain experienced by victims. Queiroz, an anchor and reporter for TVI and CNN Portugal, noted that the anti-racist struggle in Portugal currently focuses on the criminalization of racism.

In a separate development regarding media representation, Luciana Barreto has been appointed as the Ambassador for the Rede de Jornalistas Pretos pela Diversidade na Comunicação (Rede JP). Barreto, an anchor and editor-in-chief at TV Brasil, brings over two decades of experience to the network, which works to strengthen Black journalists and promote diversity and democracy within the Brazilian communication ecosystem.
