Angola authorities arrest suspects in Uíge and Viana violent crimes

The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in Angola has conducted two major operations resulting in multiple arrests related to violent crimes.

In Uíge province, five suspects, aged 21 to 26, were detained for the kidnapping and murder of two men, Sungo Domingos and Mauritanian national Camara Hadimou. The victims were reportedly lured by a fraudulent gold trading proposal. After demanding 10 million kwanzas and successfully transferring approximately three million kwanzas via mobile banking, the suspects executed the victims when the ransom was not met. Among the detainees are two members of the Penitentiary Service, who are now under internal investigation.

In Viana, the SIC arrested eight individuals suspected of forming a criminal association to murder an Egyptian merchant, Salah Elaraby Ahmed Awad Elafalfy. The investigation suggests the crime was motivated by money following a currency exchange. The group includes three Somali nationals alleged to have ordered the hit and five Angolan nationals identified as executors, one of whom is a member of the Rapid Intervention Police (PIR). Authorities seized firearms and a vehicle during the operation.
