Angola Cables upgrades submarine cable systems with Ciena technology

Angola Cables is upgrading its MONET and South Atlantic Cable System (SACS) submarine networks using Ciena’s high-capacity optical technology. The upgrades aim to support increasing bandwidth demands from cloud services and AI-driven traffic.

The MONET system connects the United States and Brazil, while the SACS system links Brazil to Angola. By integrating these systems, the provider can facilitate data travel between Angola and the United States with a 130-millisecond round-trip delay. The deployment includes Ciena’s Waveserver, WaveLogic 6 Extreme, and the 6500 Packet-Optical platform to enhance scale, flexibility, and intelligence across the subsea infrastructure.
