Angola Constitutional Court rejects PNSA congress registration
The Constitutional Court of Angola has rejected the registration of the IV Ordinary Congress of the National Salvation Party of Angola (PNSA). The court's decision, signed by President Laurinda Jacinto Prazeres da Conceição, cited the invalidity of the congress due to a failure to comply with legal deadlines.
According to the Political Parties Law, documentation including minutes and resolutions must be submitted to the court within a maximum of 45 days following a congress. While the PNSA congress took place on May 16, 2026, the documentation was not filed until July 20, exceeding the legal limit. Consequently, the court has mandated that the party must hold a new congress to regularize its institutional status.
In a separate ruling, the court validated the IV Ordinary Congress of the Angolan Pacific Party (PPA), which was held in late December 2025. This decision confirmed the election of Eduardo Kiviengele João Garcia as president and Toko Ndombaxi as vice-president, as well as the updated composition of the party's Central Committee and Political Bureau.
