Health ministers lead surgical missions and hospital reforms in Africa and Europe

In Mozambique, Health Minister Ussene Isse is leading a surgical mission at Chimoio Provincial Hospital. A team of 22 health professionals is performing operations on 11 patients, including five complex cases such as goiter, breast cancer, and inguinal hernia. This initiative aims to provide specialized care locally, reducing the need for patient transfers to distant reference hospitals and lowering costs for families.

In Portugal, the Ministry of Health, led by Ana Paula Martins, is working to restructure the national emergency network. By the end of November, the government intends to identify new regional emergency services, including centralized orthopedic responses in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo regions. This reform seeks to create a more integrated and sustainable network to ensure patients receive the right care in the right place.

Meanwhile, in Angola, Health Minister Sílvia Valentim Lutucuta has called for improved hospital efficiency following a visit to the Heróis de Kifangondo Hospital. She identified delays in patient assessment and clinical decision-making, urging stricter adherence to triage protocols and better organization of patient care circuits to reduce waiting times.
