Angola oil sector announces major gas find and promotes women’s participation

Angola’s Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo said the country must fully harness its human talent, urging more young women to pursue careers in the oil and gas industry. He highlighted the growing presence of women across geology, engineering, operations, management and leadership roles, stressing that gender inclusion is essential for better decision‑making and sector performance.

In a separate development, the Katambi‑2 well in the Benguela Basin completed successful drilling and testing on 4 August. Initial flow tests recorded 41 million standard cubic feet of gas per day and 1,160 barrels of condensate, with no water or hydrogen sulfide. The well is the first non‑associated gas flow test in Angola and could eventually produce over 100 MMscfd, confirming the basin’s commercial potential and attracting investor confidence.
