Angola political activity intensifies ahead of 2027 elections
As Angola prepares for the 2027 general elections, political mobilization and civic debate are intensifying in Luanda.
Mara Quiosa, Vice-President of the MPLA, has called for strengthened electoral mobilization within the capital. Speaking at the 14th Provincial Ordinary Conference of the MPLA in Luanda, Quiosa emphasized the strategic importance of the city and urged party members to engage in door-to-door work to identify and secure voters. She also advocated for recruiting new members, training electoral agents, and increasing dialogue with social leaders and opinion makers. Quiosa warned against what she described as false polls commissioned by political opponents, urging vigilance in both physical and digital spaces.
In parallel, the civic group Movimento Cívico TODOS is organizing the Citizen Forum in Luanda. Scheduled for October 6 and 7, 2026, the forum aims to foster debate regarding the democratic rule of law, civic participation, and the country's institutional challenges ahead of the 2027 elections. Under the theme ‘It is urgent to save the Democratic and Rule of Law State in Angola before the 2027 elections’, the event invites citizens from various sectors to discuss public participation and the future of the nation.
