Angola proposes 10% public sector salary increase for 2027
The Angolan government has proposed a 10% salary increase for public servants in 2027 as part of a three-year worker valuation agreement. The proposal was announced in Luanda by the Minister of Public Administration, Labour and Social Security, Teresa Rodrigues Dias, following a meeting with trade union leaders.
In addition to the wage proposal, the Minister announced the creation of a health mutual fund for public employees, scheduled to begin in January 2027. This benefit will be financed by the State General Budget through the reactivated Public Service Social Security Fund. The initial phase will prioritize employees who currently lack medical and pharmaceutical coverage within their respective departments.
Trade union representatives, including the Central General of Independent and Free Unions of Angola (CGSILA), have expressed that the 10% increase is insufficient. Union leaders stated they will consult with their members to evaluate the proposal, noting that previous understandings regarding wage valuation required higher adjustments. The government reported that 80% of the commitments in the current triennial agreement have been fulfilled.
