Angola reports 90% execution of national anti-corruption strategy

Angola’s National Strategy for the Prevention and Repression of Corruption (ENAPREC) has achieved an execution rate of over 90 percent. According to reports from the Inspectorate General of State Administration (IGAE), the strategy is built on three pillars: prevention, detection, and repression.

Prevention efforts included training over 37,000 public officials and conducting awareness programs for more than 300,000 students across 681 schools. Detection measures have been strengthened through new reporting mechanisms in various ministries and the creation of regional offices to monitor state budget execution.

In terms of repression and asset recovery, the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) is working to reclaim assets linked to criminal activities. Deputy Attorney General Africano dos Santos Gamboa stated that the state aims to recover all assets proven to be products of crime. Significant sums, totaling approximately $3 billion, are currently under discussion in international jurisdictions. While many assets are located in Europe and Eurasia—including long-standing cases in Portugal and Switzerland—Angolan authorities have recently expanded tracking and seizure efforts to include Cyprus and Luxembourg.
