Angola tourism generates 500 bn Kz revenue as Timor-Leste signs new CPLP cooperation deals
Angola's tourism sector reported a business volume of 500 billion kwanzas and employment of more than 150,000 people, according to Minister of Tourism Márcio Daniel at the opening of the VI Banking and Insurance Forum. Daniel highlighted tourism's role in creating jobs across hotels, restaurants, transport, agriculture, crafts and cultural activities, and urged scaling benefits to broader communities.
Timor-Leste approved cooperation agreements with Portugal, Angola and Mozambique to develop joint tourism projects. The agreements, signed by Vice‑Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Affairs and Tourism Francisco Kalbuadi Lay and Portugal's Minister of Economy Manuel Castro Almeida, focus on training, promotion and investment, with a 2026‑2028 action plan for human‑resource qualification. The deals aim to boost institutional exchanges, research, private‑sector collaboration and tourist flows among the Portuguese‑speaking nations.
