Angolan leaders call for increased domestic investment and grain exchange

At the Angola Economic Forum 2026, UNITA president Adalberto Costa Júnior called for Angolan entrepreneurs to take a more active role in the national economy. He argued that domestic investors should lead economic development and job creation rather than relying solely on foreign investment. Costa Júnior noted that some wealthy national investors currently move their resources abroad due to the prevailing political and economic climate.

In a separate discussion regarding agricultural stability, businessman Isaac Cangundo proposed the urgent creation of a specialized grain exchange in Angola. He noted that while the government is implementing measures to increase the consumption of domestic products like rice and corn, national production remains insufficient to meet demand. Cangundo identified a lack of access to financing as a primary barrier for producers and suggested that a grain exchange would facilitate better price transparency and enable advance purchase contracts to secure production funding.
