Angolan President hosts LeBron James and Will Smith

Angolan President João Lourenço hosted NBA star LeBron James and actor Will Smith at the presidential palace in Luanda. The meeting followed the fifth round of the E1 World Championship, an electric powerboat racing series held in Luanda Bay.

Both James and Smith are team owners within the E1 championship; James is an investor in Team AlUla, while Smith is part of the ownership group for Westbrook Racing. E1 CEO Jamie Copas noted the significant global reach and value the celebrities bring to the sport.

Prior to the meeting, LeBron James visited the National Museum of Slavery in Luanda. Reflecting on the historical significance of the site, James remarked that the history found there is not only local to Angola but also travels across to America.
