Angola's IGAPE seeks investors for Angola Telecom and ZEE privatization
The Institute for Management of State Assets and Participations (IGAPE) is seeking investors with technical expertise and management capacity for the privatization of Angola Telecom and the Special Economic Zone (ZEE). During the 5th Capital Market Forum, IGAPE Chairman Álvaro Fernão stated that these assets will be privatized through public tenders with prior qualification, rather than through stock market listings at this stage.
The selected strategic partners may participate in management and governance, potentially holding seats on the Board of Directors. This model aims to bring in investment and knowledge to improve company performance, even if the partner does not hold a majority stake.
Additionally, IGAPE and the National Public Procurement Service (SNCP) have introduced new rules for acquisitions by public enterprises. These regulations, outlined in a joint circular, require public companies excluded from the Public Contracts Law to establish their own internal procurement regulations. This measure is intended to enhance transparency, competition, and impartiality in the management of public resources within the state business sector.
