Angola's National Cybersecurity Center remains in installation phase
Angola’s National Cybersecurity Center, established by presidential decree in December 2025, remains in the installation phase. Although the National Cybersecurity Strategy was approved ten months ago, the commission responsible for operationalizing the entity was only formed in September 2026.
The Center is designed to function as a public institute under the supervision of the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies, and Social Communication. Its mandate includes regulation, supervision, inspection, and auditing, as well as managing the national computer incident response team (CERT).
Challenges remain in providing the new entity with the necessary structure, resources, and procedures to begin operations. Despite previous assurances from the Minister of Telecommunications that the Center could be active within the year, the delay impacts companies that rely on the central powers of the new regulatory regime.
