Angoulême announces new cultural initiatives and festival rebranding
The city of Angoulême is renewing its local cultural engagement through the return of the ‘Bulles de culture’ program. This educational initiative provides primary school students, from kindergarten to CM2, with immersive access to various artistic disciplines, including dance, theater, music, circus, and comics. The program aims to enrich the standard curriculum by allowing students to analyze artworks and interact directly with art professionals.
Additionally, the city has unveiled changes to its major comic book event, which will be rebranded as ‘Angoulême Bande dessinée’ for its upcoming edition from January 28 to 31, 2027. The new format includes six scheduled exhibitions featuring artists such as Anouk Ricard and Ugo Bienvenu. The festival will feature a streamlined selection of approximately forty competing titles and nine awards, each valued at 2,500 euros plus a bronze trophy.
