Angoulême to name square after actress Nathalie Baye
The city of Angoulême will officially name the square in front of the CGR cinema after the late French actress Nathalie Baye. The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.
Baye, who passed away on April 17, was a frequent attendee and former jury president of the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival. The tribute will include the presence of her daughter, Laura Smet.
Following the ceremony, a photographic exhibition dedicated to the actress will open at Espace Franquin, featuring works by photographers Tony Frank, Carole Bellaïche, and Luc Roux. The exhibition will run throughout the 19th edition of the festival, which takes place from August 24 to August 29.
