Angoulême's Saint‑Martial Parking Temporarily Closed Over Structural Defects
The underground level (‑1) of the Saint‑Martial parking lot in the centre of Angoulême, France, has been closed for a minimum of fifteen days after cracks were discovered on a supporting beam. The closure comes just three months after the facility reopened following a major renovation that began in September 2025 and aimed to improve waterproofing and modernise the interior.
The refurbished garage now offers a diversified mix of spaces, including family spots, places for people with reduced mobility, motorcycle bays, electric‑vehicle bays and a cyclist area with 46 secured spots, a bike‑inflation station and twenty lockers equipped with electrical outlets for battery charging. Authorities say the temporary shutdown is a precaution while experts assess and repair the structural weakness.
The measure affects drivers and cyclists using the lot, but the remaining levels of the parking remain operational.
